The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a University Lecturer in Nutrition position with special expertise in research and teaching in foods and food components and gastrointestinal modelling. The position will be based on the Kuopio campus and will be filled as from 1 August 2025 (or as agreed). Please find more information below and submit your application by 14 March 2025.
Role and salary
As our new University Lecturer you will be working in the School of Medicine at the Institute of Public Health and Clinical Nutrition, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is located in Kuopio, Finland.
As our new University Lecturer, your main responsibilities will include:
participating in the teaching of Bachelor’s and Master’s level students within the Nutrition and Public Health curriculum in collaboration with the teachers of the Institute and persons in charge of the curriculum
– providing basic, intermediate and advanced level teaching in food science,
– providing basic and intermediate level teaching in gut models,
– conducting research in the field and
– participating in projects related to the research subject and in administrative tasks.
The University Lecturer will collaborate with the professors of the academic subject to develop education and research, and to prepare and coordinate research projects in the field.
The position will be filled as 1 August 2025 (or as agreed). A probationary period of 6 months is applied to all new members of the staff.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system for Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job-related salary element and a personal salary element. In this position, the job-related salary element is based on levels 5 – 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff. The personal salary element can be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50 % of the job-related salary element. Depending on the job-related salary element and the personal salary element, the salary will be approximately EUR 3727 – 5011 €/month at the beginning of the employment relationship.

– An applicable doctoral degree, pedagogical training, good practical familiarity with the field of teaching and good teaching skills.
– Good Finnish skills and the ability to teach also in English.
– University-level teaching experience in food science including gut models.
– Demonstrated research achievements in the field of the position

– Produced teaching material
– Other achievements in teaching and supervision
