Your role and responsibilities
We are growing our Technical Sales Support Team and therefore looking for a new team member to join us in Helsinki, Finland.

In this role, you will be a technical sales support specialist for the Large Motors and Generators Engineering organization providing technical solutions and advice on ABB products and applications. Our 15-person expert team gives the last word on our technical solutions globally, supporting ABB Production Units, Sales Offices and After Sales.

As a mechanical specialist in our team, your responsibility is to make sales phase designs of large induction motors after electrical design and ensure that all customer requirements are met. Your job will include creating sales drawings, mechanical studies for different parts of the motor (shafts, bearings, etc.) and choosing right accessories and auxiliary equipment.

You are a fast learner, being able to absorb a great amount of technical documentation from past projects and distil that into new solutions for specific customer needs. You have an eye for details and capacity to see the big picture, knowing how to combine the perfect design from standard structures to highly innovative solutions.

You have good engineering skills and are fast and efficient using AutoCAD, NX, or other design programs, and PDM with Teamcenter. You also have knowledge of basic engineering calculations such as bearing or shaft dimensioning and simple structural evaluations.

The role requites presence in Pitäjänmäki office approximately 50% of working time.

This position reports to Team Lead, Technical Sales Support.

You will be mainly accountable for:
– Supporting the sales team by providing advice on technical solutions, products and applications
– Making mechanical studies and calculations to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency in the production phase
– Making sure customer requirements of offered machines are fulfilled
– Coordinating sales phase engineering activities
– Documenting your technical support results in an understandable and precise way in our sales support tools
– Committing to completing tasks, keeping schedules, and communicating results
– Balancing between the various requests coming from several stakeholders and keeping your tasks in logical order
– Continuously improving our processes, tools, and ways of working together with the rest of our Technical Sales Support team

Qualifications for the role:
– Earlier work experience in mechanical engineering, order engineering, R&D or similar
– Sound knowledge of electrical motors
– Competency in 2D or 3D design programs such as NX, AutoCAD and PDM Teamcenter
– B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering
– Good command of English, Finnish is seen as an advantage
