The renewed Fluent is now at the point where we need again more enthusiastic and capable members to join our team. Right now we are looking for two Senior Software Developers.
What we basically expect from you:
– you speak fairly fluent English, as it is our common working language
– you have a somewhat shitty sense of humour its kind of a lifeblood of being a Fluentee
– you know some programming language and framework, but we arent looking for any particular technology the most important thing is that you want to continuously improve and are willing to learn.
What we dont expect from you or what we dont want to do in our company anyways:
– guesswork in story points
– lone rangers
– asking permissions from higher up (since the team is the one who decides)
– siloing
– be stuck in a rut.
In Fluent we want to do things differently than others and be progressive we work genuinely together and not just on paper. Nowadays, agile is just a buzzword. To us, it means continuous learning from small experiments. We want to sustain our pace of development backed with automated tests that specify what our software should do. We guess we should also mention something about DevOps, so there, mentioned.
In our work community, a psychologically safe work environment is highly valued. We believe that learning happens first and foremost through failure. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and we hope you say yours out loud and have the courage to mention the elephant in the room, if needed. Silence rarely announces itself. The person we are looking for also has the chance to mentor others.

We know that there is more to our employees lives than Fluent, and we want to support this wholeheartedly.
Our office is located in the center of Joensuu, and the work happens mainly on-site. Our developers also love to work at the office, which we believe says something about the comfortability of our workplace but of course we can arrange remote working every now and then, if and when needed.
Having said that, we truly value applications from people of all backgrounds, but we do require that your current place of residence is Finland. We always want to support the integration of our employees, but unfortunately we don’t currently have the resources to do so.
We also offer you the latest tools to do your work with, and you may use all the most common operating systems (macOS, Linux) according to your will.
Some technologies we work with include Java, Kotlin, Typescript and React.
The salary will be probably somewhere between 1 000- 10 000 euros per month.
