Job description

GPV is on a journey towards implementing a modern Data Platform and we want you to join us!

Maybe you are currently working as a consultant but are tired of time registration and having to focus on five different projects at the same time? Or maybe you are stuck as an in-house developer at a place where things are standing still, and you feel like you being there doesnt make a difference? Then join GPV for a greenfield project where we are moving from a mix of on-prem technologies to a modern setup using Microsoft Fabric.

Your role

As a Data Engineer you will initially support our on-prem Microsoft data solutions, before transitioning into a key player in our future Fabric solution. Expect that your primary work the first 6 months will be focused on learning our legacy Microsoft platforms, taking over the responsibility from a colleague moving to a different IT position. The role will then be a split with approximately 50/50 time on maintaining and optimising the old platforms, and developing the new solution in Fabric with the knowledge you have gained in the first half year.

GPV currently have several legacy ERP systems due to mergers, and your job is to secure reporting in the data platforms on top of these systems. Further we are in the process of rolling out D365FO with the first pilot site going live at the end of 2025. You will be an important part of this project, where the new Data Platform should contain the needed reporting at go-live. For both the existing and new platform you will be part of the complete process from requirement gathering with end-users, extracting source data, data modelling and building the cubes or semantic models in PowerBI.

What we offer

You will be part of the team that transitions GPV into a digitized future, going from a complex setup with several different on-prem data platforms to a more streamlined setup in Microsoft Fabric.

We offer a job where you can really make a difference and be challenged, while at the same time having fun with your colleagues.

You will be offered a competitive salary that matches your qualifications and there are of course the standard things you would expect from the workplace, like mobile phone, internet provided at your home and a good canteen. Further there are social activities with local colleagues.

To support learning there are possibilities to attend relevant conferences and take relevant certifications, to help your transition from the on-prem tech-stack to the Fabric experiences.

Job requirements

We are looking for a senior data engineer with a relevant educational background and 5+ years of experience, with a focus on data solutions on the on-prem Microsoft tech-stack and an eager to learn new cloud tools together with skilled colleagues. You speak and communicate fluently in English.

You are probably humble by nature and cannot checkoff all the requirements below, but hopefully there are a lot of known topics and you are able to quickly learn the rest because you are curious and like to explore.

Microsoft T-SQL, with good knowledge of writing efficient SQL code, defining views and stored procedures, looking at execution plans, etc.

SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), with hands-on experience of extracting data from different source systems, develop ELT logic and deployment to SQL servers, using the SQL Agent for orchestration and monitoring of nightly loads

SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), having developed logic preferably both in tabular cubes (DAX) and multidimensional cubes (MDX)

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), with good understanding of how to build reports, deployment and access management

Data Modelling, using SQL code and the Kimball methodology to build facts and dimensions

Azure DevOps, where Git repositories is a natural part of the development process

Communication skills, because your job is to collaborate with both the rest of the Data Team and in general with end-users in the business, in an international setup

Further it is beneficial if some of the following topics are also in your toolbelt:

Microsoft PowerBI, building reports and the underlying semantic models (DAX), maybe utilizing external tools like Tabular Editor

Microsoft Fabric (excluding PowerBI), either hands-on from a project or self-learning with some of the components. Maybe you have or are planning to take the DP-600 certification.

Azure Services, that are used in batch related data solutions (ADF, SQL, KeyVault, Storage Accounts, etc.)

Power Platform, using Power Apps and Power Automate, both on its own and in combination with PowerBI reports

D365FO, understanding of the data model from the ERP system where you have preferably worked with data modelling and reporting on top

GPV is an international company and the 3 members of the Data Team are located in 2 different countries. You will be working in a hybrid setup, partly from our office in Vantaa, Finland or Piestany, Slovakia and partly from home. We expect that the transportation from your place of residence to the office to be a maximum of 60 minutes. You will also cooperate with our external partners that support our journey, where they have provided the Fabric framework and needed support in the project.
