Together, these units form a cluster of about 40 academics in Turku and Vasa. Nationally, Samforsk is a leading institution for the study of public opinion and attitude formation. It hosts Firipo, the first research infrastructure dedicated to the empirical study of public opinion in Finland. Financed by the Academy of Finland since 2020, Firipo is on the national roadmap for research infrastructures. Internationally, Samforsk is known both for being a pioneer in the empirical study of deliberative democracy and for being an important center for the study of public opinion. Samforsk has collaboration agreements with Stanford University (US), Uppsala University (Sweden) and close partnerships with the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and the universities of Turku and Tampere in Finland. The researcher is expected to participate in and contribute to this dynamic academic environment.
