A family living in Helsinki, 15 mins by train to the city centre is looking for a live-in Junior Nanny to speak English with their children, although you can be a native speaker of any language. The family’s main language is Finnish and the children go to an English-speaking school.
Your main duties will be to get the children ready in the morning, drop them off at school (by bus), pick them up in the afternoon, take them to their after-school activities or explore other activities, cook and serve them their evening meal, and play with them.
A cleaner is employed but you would be expected to help out with light household duties, such as keeping the kitchen and children’s areas tidy and clean, doing some vacuuming, dusting, and children’s laundry.
You will work Mon-Fri 6.30-8.30 am and 3.30-6.30 pm plus an additional 5 hours per week in the evenings as agreed when you will do the bedtime routine.
The children are very outgoing and bond with new child carers easily. Their current hobbies and interests include scouting, tennis, football, piano, Legos, board games, and arts and crafts.
The family is an experienced employer, having successfully hosted au pairs and nannies for several years. They are looking for an active, child-centred, assertive, and precise nanny. You do not need a childcare qualification but some previous childcare experience (not necessarily work experience) with references is necessary. An EU passport or a valid work permit for nannying in Finland is required.
The family will pay for your flights to/from Helsinki, your Finnish language course (if needed), and your public transportation card. If you stay past the first year, they can pay your return flight home 1-2 times per year.
This is a live-in position with accommodation and all meals throughout your employment. The accommodation is a private bedroom on a separate floor from family bedrooms, with free wifi, and the shared use of bathroom, sauna, lounge with TV, and kitchen. The taxable accommodation and food benefit is included in the gross salary.
