SSAB is undertaking a strategic roadmap to revolutionize iron- and steelmaking, and to be the world’s first steel company to deliver iron ore-based fossil-free steel to the market in 2026. We are looking for a highly motivated person to join us in this journey as Operational Purchaser in Inbound Logistics and Operations team at SSAB’s Nordic Raw Material and Energy Procurement, dealing with raw material deliveries and shipments to our sites in Nordics.

This position is substitute and temporary from 1st March to 31st August 2025.

About the position

We are looking for a highly motivated Operational Purchaser dealing mainly with scrap purchases but also for alloys and other hot metal raw materials we use at SSAB. You will be responsible for ensuring that the internal customers receive deliveries in accordance with applicable agreements and production needs as well as being the contact for day-to-day activities with suppliers and logistics partners. You will be a key member in one or several Commodity Teams working with one or several sites where it will be important to create good relationships with other functions.

As an Operational purchaser at SSAB, you will play a critical role in our Inbound Logistics and Operations team, with the possibility to get involved in the global transport business.

This position is based in Raahe Finland, with the option for partial remote work.

Main responsibilities

-Managing day-to-day activities including creating purchase orders, verifying invoice accuracy against
-Purchase agreements and handle the order follow-up
-Ensuring timely deliveries of raw materials in alignment with internal requirements and agreements
-Serving as a contact for internal customer, suppliers and logistics partners
-Identifying and communicating new contractual needs to strategic purchasers
-Handling of shipments for import cargoes from load port to discharge port.

About You

-Experience in sourcing, economics and/or logistics preferably within the related field
-Thrives in a fast-paced work environment and has strong orientation to get things done with ability to dig into details for being able to understand the big picture
-Open-minded personality and initiative approach for new challenges and developing the way of working and business practices
-Exhibits strong integrity, social skills, and ability to work efficiently and in collaborative way as part of the team
-Proficient in English and Finnish to work in the international playground, English is our official company language
-We expect you to have or to study a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics or technology with strong skills in MS tools and SAP and IFS.
