Kameratori Oy is continuing to innovate, following the successful consumer product line-ups with the VALOI brand. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the RnD process for a fast-growing internal start-up brand. Beyond technical innovation and implementation, a significant part of the position is taking charge of the compliance and certification process, as well as improving internal documentation and process. You will work closely with the brand founder and product owner, and will be expected to contribute to both current and future development roadmaps.

Main responsibilities:
– Build a small RnD process and team based on current products and plans
– Give technical input and perspective to the future product roadmap
– Create the technical foundation for future products and ideas
– Help align in-house assembly and purchasing capabilities with product needs.

What you will do:
– Coordinate with head of VALOI to implement current product roadmap
– Act as main contact for external RnD contractors (mechanical, electronics, software, etc.)
– Provide hands-on engineering in your area of expertise – the amount might change over time if the team grows
– Recruit and train future members of the RnD team
– Lead the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) process and productisation efforts, including compliance and documentation
– Document and monitor current RnD projects to a functional level, required for internal purposes and compliance use
– Provide input to long-term product planning and innovation
– Support the spare parts design and manufacturing for our second hand camera business

You Might Be a Great Fit If:
– You have a background in engineering: preferably electronics, mechanical engineering, or in industrial design.
– You are a business-aware person focusing on practical realities and risk-managed solutions.
– You have experience in hiring and training for the field.
– You have established competence to work through all development stages: concept, prototype, final product.
– You possess a strong bias toward iteration and project completion over perfection.
– You are familiar with the tools of the trade, in your area and interfacing with other engineering types.
– You are passioned about the user experience and product excellence.
– You have experience in an RnD team of more than 3, leadership experience is a plus.
– You have gained some knowledge of the field (film photography, film processing and scanning). This is seen as an asset but not a requirement.
