In this position, you will teach various subjects to English-speaking students. The teaching will be conducted in a combined class format. We hope for a student-centered and development-oriented work approach from the applicant, as well as good collaboration and communication skills.
The role also includes administering entrance exams for students and developing English-language education.

Tiirismaa School is located on the Paavola campus in the center of Lahti. Approximately 850 students in grades 1 to 9 study at our comprehensive school, and about 90 adults work in educational roles. In addition to Finnish-language instruction, Tiirismaa offers English stream, extensive bilingual basic education (English – Finnish) for grades 1 to 9, as well as focused music education for grades 7 to 9. The upper secondary education of the Swedish-speaking school in Lahti is also provided in connection with Tiirismaa School.

The eligibility requirement is the qualification of a primary school class or subject teacher as well as native-level proficiency in English. The teacher’s qualifications are determined according to the provisions of the regulation on the qualification requirements of education personnel no. 986/98. If there are no qualified applicants, a candidate who does not have formal qualifications may be selected for the position.

The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract required by law 504/2002 before accepting the position. The selected candidate may be asked for a certificate regarding drug testing. The position has a 6-month probationary period.
