Hitachi Energy’s Transformers factory in Vaasa is the largest and most important transformer manufacturing plant in Finland and an important part of the national electricity security. Today, the factory designs and manufactures the worlds most specialized and demanding transformers. We develop and manufacture specialized transformers for demanding applications for energy and grid companies, industry, transportation and demanding infrastructure sites such as data centers.

Now Hitachi Energy is investing approximately 170 million euros in a new production and technology center in the Vikby industrial area in Mustasaari, Finland. The campus, called Hitachi Energy Park, which will be completed in 2027, will consists of a new state-of-the-art transformer factory and testing facilities and double the production and testing capacity of transformers in Finland. It will also include modern office and testing facilities for the company’s electrification projects and automation and software development professionals.

The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Factory Test Room Manager for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, you will lead all activities in the Factory Test Room, ensuring transformers and their components meet the highest performance and safety standards. You will guide a team of test engineers and technicians in planning and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of testing processes, contributing to Hitachi Energy’s vision of delivering smarter and more sustainable energy solutions.

How you will make an impact
– Ensure all testing operations comply with company and national safety policies, industry standards and staying updated with regulatory changes.
– Champion workplace safety by enforcing best practices, maintaining and fostering a strong safety culture among team members.
– Communicate with customers and project managers to define and clarify complex testing requirements, ensuring efficient and effective test setups and schedules.
– Comprehend test procedures to ensure products meet specifications and international standards, addressing operational challenges proactively.
– Establish and oversee Test Room KPIs to drive process enhancements and ensure test accuracy and reliability.
– Drive continuous improvement initiatives by assessing testing processes and performance metrics to enhance efficiency and quality.
– Lead and develop a high-performing Testing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and
professional growth.

Your background
– Degree in Electrical Engineering.
– Excellent leadership and team management skills, with an ability to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
– Analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to evaluate test results and performance metrics.
– Fluency in written and spoken Finnish and English. Other languages are considered an advantage.
