Research and Innovation Services create the conditions for high-quality, productive, responsible RDI activities that have a broad impact on society. We assist researchers with issues related to complementary RDI funding in both the application and implementation phases. We make sure that applying for and implementing projects is smooth. We support researchers in inventions and patents and manage the university’s patent portfolio. We support various mechanisms for the transfer of research results, such as commercialization projects, licensing, sales, spinoff creation, and ecosystem creation and support.
We are looking for two Expert (Grant Coach) to join Research and Innovation Services.
Job description
As an expert (Grant Coach), your task is to activate researchers to apply for competitive international research funding (especially Horizon Europe Pillar 1), support the preparation of applications, and promote cooperation between researchers and external partners. The goal is to improve the quality of applications by participating in the writing of the non-scientific sections of the applications and to support the smooth progress of the application process.
In addition, the task includes maintaining contact with research funders and other internal and external stakeholders, participating in the organization of training and information events, and developing the university’s funding application support processes.
Requirements
We require you to have a master’s degree. The tasks require excellent written and oral English skills. In terms of successfully managing the tasks, previous experience in national or international funding applications is essential.
We are looking for a flexible and dynamic team worker with good interaction, negotiation and presentation skills. The deadlines for applying for research funding require strong time and work management skills, as well as the ability to work under schedule pressure. The position also involves some travelling.
A doctoral degree, knowledge of the Horizon Europe program (especially Pillar 1), excellent writing skills and process management skills are especially considered an advantage.

The position is full-time and permanent. The starting is as soon as possible, or as mutually agreed. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the position requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with [the Salary system of Finnish universities](https://www.sivista.fi/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Salary-Scales-010923-and-010324.pdf). According to the criteria applied to other expert and support staff, the position of an Expert (Grant Coach) is placed on level 10 of the job requirements scale. In addition to the basic salary, a supplementary salary will be paid according to personal performance, depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
