*About Developer Advocate Role*
Sooner or later, a successful marketplace business needs unique, custom-developed features. While most of Sharetribe’s customers start with our no-code builder, many continue to work with the Sharetribe Developer Platform to customize their marketplace. This makes Developer Experience a crucial part of Sharetribe’s overall strategy.
We’re now looking for a third Developer Advocate to join Sari and Aleksi in supporting our growing developer community: technical founders, in-house developers in our customers teams, and Sharetribe’s global Expert Partner Network. There are currently more than 3,000 developers in our developer community Slack channel and over 100 developers in the Partner Network.
The Developer Advocate role is ideal for a software professional who enjoys helping people, solving technical challenges, and explaining complex concepts in practical terms. You’ll get a chance to impact Sharetribe’s Developer Experience at every stage: assist developers through our technical support channels, write content and documentation, and contribute to the development of Sharetribe’s Web Template.

Here’s what your work will look like at Sharetribe:
– Answering written messages and having video calls with developers: Help developers solve problems through our technical support channels.
– Creating technical content: Write technical documentation, blog posts, and guides illustrating how to use the Sharetribe Developer Platform.
– Community engagement: Participate in and develop the Sharetribe developer community channels.
– Advocating for Developer Experience: Use insights from customer developers to advocate for better Developer Experience within the company.
– Software development: Contribute and improve features of the Sharetribe Web Template (an open source React/Node.js application that powers our no-code marketplaces and is the starting point for most developers building with Sharetribe.)
*About you*
Here are the skills and qualities you need to be successful and enjoy working as a Developer Advocate at Sharetribe:
Software development experience (junior to mid). You have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in developing software applications, with demonstrable expertise in:
– React with Redux (or equivalent frontend JS framework)
– Node.js (or equivalent backend framework)
– Using REST APIs and JavaScript SDKs
– Git and Github
Customer support experience. A big part of your role is to answer technical questions and requests in Intercom and Slack. Experience in customer service, support, or developer relations roles is a great foundation for thriving as a Developer Advocate.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You know how to explain complex topics and solutions in a clear, straightforward manner. Sometimes, you’ll need to ask lots of questions, dig deeper, and ping several colleagues to find the answers, and we hope this sounds like something you’d genuinely enjoy.
Excellent written and verbal English skills. Our official working language and the language we use to communicate with our customer developers is English. Finnish or Swedish skills aren’t required.
Commitment to great Developer Experience. You understand the building blocks of a great Developer Experience and empathize with developers of varying skill levels.
Flexible and self-managed working style. You’re able to take responsibility for managing your time, focus and prioritization in a flexible, self-directed work environment.

*Salary & Perks*
The salary for this role is between 3500€ and 4000€ per month. Our salaries are fully transparent, and we check them every year according to this process (https://www.sharetribe.com/balanced/how-we-make-salary-decisions/), which takes into account job market developments and individual contribution growth.
