Join an ambitious early-stage AI startup Rotomate as a Founding Fullstack Engineer and help build the future of industrial intelligence!
What will you be doing?
We’re a newly founded AI startup on a mission to revolutionise industrial operations and maintenance. Our product is the Rotomate AI-engineer, a virtual colleague for operations and maintenance engineers. The AI-engineer seeks to analyse, plan and perform various tasks revolving around large machinery in industrial facilities with the aim of supercharging facility engineers to make faster, smarter decisions based on various production signals. You’ll join as our first Fullstack Engineer, playing a key role in building the backend, UI, and data pipelines of our industrial AI-engineer. We already have a solid customer base and funding secured. This is a rare opportunity to hop on a small and growing team at an early stage. You’ll work closely with our founding team, which currently consists of five people: two founders and three founding engineers: UX designer and frontend engineer, Engineer scientist, and a Data engineer building the data backbone.
In this role, you’ll be hands-on in designing and building scalable features for our AI-engineer. You’ll contribute across the entire product from backend to frontend and collaborate closely with the rest of the team to shape the system architecture. The software is built with the following technologies and frameworks, but we don’t expect you to have experience with all of them: Node.js, TypeScript, React, NextJS, Python, FastAPI, Google Cloud Platform.
What makes you a great fit?
We are looking for a Fullstack Engineer who thrives in early-stage environments and enjoys taking ownership. You have built production-ready software, either independently or as part of a core team, and are comfortable working across the stack. Familiarity with building scalable data products or a background in artificial intelligence (LLMs / machine learning) is also seen as a plus.
You thrive in a fast-moving environment and are motivated by the opportunity to make a real impact. You approach your work with a founder mindset – thinking beyond individual features and understanding the broader goals of the product and business. You’re not afraid to step outside your comfort zone, learn continuously, and talk directly with users to understand their needs. You move quickly from idea to implementation, value collaboration and teamwork over silos, and are genuinely curious about how things work – and how they could work better.
We require you to:
– 3+ years of experience in software development
– Relevant degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or equivalent
– Solid skills in backend development and preferably with Python
– Experience working with frontend technologies such as TypeScript & Node.js
– Familiarity with cloud platforms
– Ability and willingness to communicate directly with customers when needed
– Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English
We consider as an asset:
– Previous experience working in early-stage startups and a founder mindset
– Have experience scaling data products
– Experience or interest in building AI or data products
– Previous experience in industrial domains or B2B SaaS products

Practicalities:
In this full-time and permanent position, you will be employed directly by Rotomate. Start time in the role is flexible and can be either before or after the summer, depending on your availability. Rotomate has an office in the heart of Helsinki, and we value face-to-face collaboration, so we hope you’re eager to work primarily from our Helsinki office. Of course, we’re open to flexibility when needed. The base salary in this position ranges between 4000-5000 €/month, depending on your experience, and will be negotiated individually. In addition to the base salary, you’ll have the opportunity to join our early-stage company equity package.
