At Fiskars’ Billnäs factory in Western Uusimaa, we produce Fiskars’ well-known scissors, axes, snow tools and forged products with around 200 employees. We are looking for a

Manager,  Quality, Environment, Health, & Safety (QEHS), who will provide leadership for the implementation and development of QEHS standards and procedures and will partner with Billnäs factory leadership on compliance, project management, reporting matters and related QEHS management issues.

This role will actively participate on the site leadership team work in the areas of planning, QEHS governance, auditing, management systems, best practice sharing, compliance initiatives and governmental/regulatory reporting. Primary purpose of this position is to grow the safety culture to achieve world class QEHS performance and tactically deploy the strategy and vision for the factory. Effectively execute strategy to elevate safety and environmental performance to world-class levels.

Main responsibility areas:

  • Strategic goals: Responsible for achieving a strategic framework for QEHS objectives aligned with group-level objectives. Defining factory action plan and program with the occupational safety and health delegates and ensuring their implementation.
     
  • Metering and follow-up: Accountable for setting, monitoring and continuously improving factory safety culture for all employees and leadership team members. Setting targets on KPI’s for QEHS and run an active performance management dialogue to ensure these KPIs are met:
  • Report H&S KPI framework within factory and ensuring that escalation policy is adhered
  • Monthly reporting of safety including but not limited to details on any LTI (Lost Time Injury)
  • Report environmental performance numbers
  • Compliance: Responsible for encouraging and monitoring of safety and environmental activities at factory to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and to align management on safety and environmental standard methodology. Ensuring operational procedure compliance with ISO regulations (knowledge of and FSC regulation standards), including conducting ISO audits. Act as factory management representative in QEHS systems as well as for management systems.
     
  • Working environment: Leading investigations of field safety incidents, accidents and issues, as well as leads the local occupational safety committee. Participates in developing factory 5S and lean activities.
     
  • Cooperation: Active cooperation with local team leaders, leadership and production as well as with other Fiskars sites and group level QESH community.
     
  • Training: Planning training materials for QEHS, managing, developing and coaching colleagues and other stakeholders in QEHS. Provides information, technical guidance on health, safety and quality issues to our entire organization.
     

What you’ll need to succeed:

We expect strong commitment in developing the QEHS matters and you drive through improving processes and performance. Suitable background would be Bachelor or Masters degree in related field as well as minimum of 5 years of directly related experience. In addition it is an advantage if the candidate has experience in working in industrial environment, thus has natural interest in engineering,  manufacturing processes as well as towards technology development. Project management and process design skills are also relevant. As a person you are a good communicator, have attention to details and you communicate fluently in Finnish and English, both written and verbal.
