We are looking for an HR Intern to join our team for six months, from August 4, 2025, to February 3, 2026. This internship is designed for international professionals eager to learn Finnish during their internship. Our goal is to ensure that individuals from diverse language and cultural backgrounds can smoothly work in the city, and learn the language needed in their jobs.
As an HR Intern, you will work in the HR services of the Education Division, which oversees strategic personnel planning, recruitment, and HR reporting of the division. Our team is also responsible for international recruitment of education professionals and the development of recruitment strategies for foreign-language speaking and international talent.
In this role, you will be working with various tasks, including:
– Planning, evaluating, developing and coordinating the implementation of our international recruitment projects aiming towards excellent candidate experience.
– Identifying better ways to attract education professionals already residing in Finland, to boost their interest in employment within the City of Helsinki.
– Working in collaboration with educational institutions and NGO’s to reach out to people interested in working in the field of education.
– Organising and participating in recruitment events.
Additionally, your tasks may include:
– Creating presentations, recruitment reports and writing documents in Finnish and English.
– Contributing to the enhancement of our team’s onboarding content and practices.
– Proofreading documents and verifying numerical data.
Given these diverse tasks, you demonstrate adaptability, courage to share your ideas, as well as ability to take the initiative and manage effectively a variety of responsibilities.
You are able to work in the role with developing Finnish language skills, therefore you should have basic knowledge of Finnish language. English can be used as supporting language. We support your Finnish language development and also expect you to take an active role in developing your language skills.

The salary for this position is 1786€ per month.
Please note that this HR Intern position is exclusively available to students pursuing their master’s degree at a university or university of applied sciences. Relevant fields of study include, but are not limited to, Educational Sciences, Social Sciences, and Business Administration. If you are a student at a university of applied sciences, you should have accrued at least two years of work experience in your field.
Successful applicants will be invited for in-person interviews at our office at Työpajankatu 8 on Monday 2 June between 12 noon-3pm or Wednesday 4 June between 12 noon-3pm. We may also utilize the Recright video interview tool. In such case, we will send out the video interview questions on Monday 19 May and would expect your video response by Sunday 25 May.
We will make the recruitment decision by 14 June and may apply positive action in our decision making.
