Your role and responsibilities:
We are looking for a Trade and Logistics Specialist to join ABB Center of Expertise Logistics (CoE-L) in Vaasa.
This position is a temporary parental leave substitute until the end of 2025.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the utilization of equipment and ensuring a high level of service and cost-effective movement of goods. You will also be responsible for validating carrier invoices and ensuring that transport costs are charged according to agreed contract and purchasing guidelines.
The position is perfect for you, if you have a customer-oriented mindset and skills to efficiently collaborate with various stakeholders. You will be working in close cooperation with various ABB Business Units, in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing demands. You will need to pay attention to customer requirements while balancing transport requests with available transport options and communicating about service issues with shippers and receivers.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Communicating with transport service providers to place transport orders, receiving confirmations, providing custom instructions and monitoring important milestones
Ensuring that carriers are monitored, and that customer service is provided to meet the needs of all dedicated businesses and specific local delivery needs
Calculating total transportation lead times and transport costs including justifying cost overruns when they occur
Understanding different planning techniques, including the functionality of transport management systems
Collecting local transport and customs knowledge as well as knowledge on relevant restrictions and regulations
Checking and auditing carrier billing, auditing freight invoices

Qualifications for the role:
Great team working skills and customer-oriented approach to work is essential
Good knowledge of trade and logistics rules and regulations is required
You are at ease in communicating in Finnish and English, both oral and written. Swedish is seen as an advantage
Ability to demonstrate your capability to manage and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks is essential
Good planning, problem solving and decision-making skills are relevant
Possessing advanced IT skills including with MS Office tools is required
Flexibility to work in different shifts according to business needs
Active mindset for process development
Experience in working with advanced TMS (Transport Management System) platforms is seen as an advantage
Experience in transport management or freight forwarding is seen as an advantage
B.Sc. degree and a background from a relevant field (commercial or technical)
