Are you an experienced software engineer who would like to be at the forefront of defining digital finance as part of an innovative product company?
Tesseract Investment, a regulated institutional digital asset lending company founded in Finland in 2017, is now looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their experienced software team in Helsinki, and to support the development of new features.
Tesseract partners with crypto exchanges and wallet providers to deliver yield-generating investment products to end users who typically are crypto owners. For partners, the company offers a set of APIs and guides them in their integration work. Behind the APIs, Tesseract has a proprietary software platform designed for multi-tenant access, developed and maintained by the Helsinki team over several years. The platform integrates with several third-party service providers, e.g. digital asset custody for crypto asset transfers and KYC providers for verifying end-user identity.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join a team of five software professionals. The team is a group of high performers with great communication skills, who know when to take initiative but also when to ask for help. The team strives for high-velocity and top-quality output, and they love the fast-paced environment that drives them to become the next generation of problem-solvers. Your direct manager will be Tesseracts VP of Engineering.
In this role, you will contribute to delivering new product features while maintaining the existing platform by producing clean, well-tested, well-documented, and elegant backend and occasionally frontend code. You are working closely with the VP of Engineering and the team to develop blueprints, architectures, and designs for the new services while shaping Tesseracts standards for their implementation. You will also play a key role in reviewing and testing other team members work, ensuring the reliability and consistency of the deliverables. Moreover, you will participate in the development and maintenance of test automation and CI/CD pipelines.
Tesseract’s platforms are deployed to AWS and run services on top of EKS. The code is mostly based on TypeScript and PostgreSQL is used as the main datastorage. Test automation, security, and high availability are important for the team. Tesseract is ISO27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certified while not compromising agility in their software development.
We are looking for a person with:
– Approximately 8 years of relevant software development experience (programming, databases, architecture design, etc.), ideally from product or SaaS context
– Excellent programming skills with TypeScript and solid proficiency in relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
– Experience in containers and their orchestration, e.g. Docker and Kubernetes
– Good teamwork acumen combined with strong communication skills, willingness to help, and discuss your ideas with others
– A systematic approach to development – you get things done and you are excited to work in a growing environment
– Professional working proficiency in English, both written and verbal
We consider as an asset:
– Hobbyist or professional experience in cryptocurrencies, blockchain and/or Web3
– Experience developing system and acceptance test automation
– Experience in frontend development with React
– Finnish language skills
Tesseract offers you:
– A role in a stable and innovative product company, offering unique exposure to the global digital asset market
– A chance to gain a steep learning curve about cryptocurrencies, blockchains, and Web3, and an opportunity to learn with the best in finance, tech, and digital assets
– A top-performing team that works closely together to build world-changing solutions
– A culture rooted in meritocracy, fostering a team of truly competent professionals
– Great opportunities for career growth
– Out-of-office activities including off-site strategy workshops
– Brand-new office located in the city center, featuring a sunroof terrace and a selection of refreshments to enhance your workday
– Perks and benefits on top of your monthly salary, as well as a stock option plan
Practicalities:
In this full-time and permanent position, you will be employed directly by Tesseract. The start time in the role is as soon as possible, latest in January 2025. The team works at the Helsinki office at least a couple of days per week, and we hope you are also willing to join the team at the office weekly. However, if you are located further away from the capital area, a suitable hybrid model will be agreed upon.
