Overview

In the role of Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you must comply with project specifications, commissioning plans, and procedures while undertaking testing to ensure the installation aligns with the design. You will execute commissioning and testing across interfaces, maintaining the associated documentation throughout the process. This includes assembling test scripts and commissioning documentation for record-keeping purposes. You must also record any design or “as-built” changes that occur as a direct result of commissioning tests.

As part of your role, you’ll need to identify any specialist test equipment and tools required for the commissioning process. You will review and develop subcontractor commissioning procedures to ensure they meet the specific contract requirements for each project. Witnessing commissioning by subcontractors and specialist engineers, as well as attending and witnessing equipment works tests when necessary, is also essential.

You will assist in the preparation and review of works test plans and procedures, and you’ll be expected to take a leadership role when directed by the Commissioning Manager or Project Manager, directing and supporting other Commissioning Engineers or Assistant Commissioning Engineers. Managing the programme in relation to construction activities that impact commissioning progress is crucial, along with providing weekly reports to senior management that identify progress, issues, and constraints.

Essential attributes/skills/qualifications include:

– An accredited degree in engineering subjects such as Electrical Engineering.
– Experience working with PLCs and the ability to identify software bugs during commissioning.
– Proficiency in using Google Suite software.
– A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a senior commissioning position.
– Eligibility to work in Europe.
