This is an exciting opportunity to lead cutting-edge research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Health Sensing, and Digital Sport Technologies, shaping the future of innovation and education at one of Finland’s premier applied sciences institutions.
As a Research Group Leader, your primary responsibilities will be leading the research group and guiding curriculum development and AI research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Develop and implement a research strategy for the group, aligned with the strategic goals of DAIT and Turku UAS
– Lead the financial planning and budget management for the research group
– Lead a high-performing team of research professionals, and cultivate an inclusive and collaborative research culture within the group
– Build and maintain strong relationships with funding agencies, research institutions, and industry partners
– Strengthen the research group relationships with partners and other stakeholders globally as well as in Finland
– Supervise and mentor students and research assistants
– Contribute to the curriculum development within DAIT.
WHAT WE EXPECT:
We are seeking a visionary, internationally recognized leader and researcher in the field of Computer Science with demonstrated expertise in its applications and societal impacts. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
– A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
– At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the field, and a deep and broad understanding of Computer Science, AI, and Information Technology. Knowledge of Health Sensing, Medical Imaging, Privacy AI, and Sport Technology is a plus.
– A proven ability to conduct high-impact research and secure funding.
– We value pedagogical expertise. Ideally, you have completed 60 credits of pedagogical studies. However, the lack of these studies is not a barrier, and we are happy to support you in completing them.
Key Skills and Competencies:
– Leadership and team management skills with experience of leading diverse, high-performing teams.
– Fluent communication skills to inspire and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including industry leaders, academic peers, and policymakers.
– Fluent English skills, both orally and in writing. The working language in this role is English. However, knowledge of Finnish is a plus.
– Proven success in promoting international collaborations with companies, research institutes, and universities.
WHAT WE OFFER:

In the field of Health Sensing, you’ll be immersed in an innovative environment, where our ambition is to integrate advanced biomedical sensing and IoT technologies with sophisticated signal processing and machine learning solutions. The health sensing team is focusing on wearable computing, enabling devices to process physiological and biological data and provide real-time health insights in clinical settings, sport science, and precision medicine. This will include developing technologies that monitor vital signs, detect anomalies, and offer personalized health recommendations.
OTHER TERMS
A probationary period of six months applies. In accordance with our applicable collective agreement, the job title in this position is Principal Lecturer.
In this position, work must be carried out in Finland.
