Nautor Swan is searching for an experienced Chief Designer (Electrical) to join the team in Pietarsaari, working on high-profile yacht-building projects.
In this role, you will lead a team of 12 electrical designers, both in-house and external, guiding them in developing electrical systems for luxury yachts. Your primary responsibility will be managing the overall electrical design process at a strategic level, ensuring seamless collaboration across teams, and overseeing the output quality. Rather than direct hands-on design, you will provide direction, ensure resources are effectively utilized, and make high-level decisions that align with project goals.
Your key responsibilities include:
– Leading and managing the electrical design team, including resourcing and workload distribution across projects.
– Overseeing the development of electrical systems, ensuring designs meet technical and safety standards.
– Reviewing and optimizing the design work to ensure efficiency and adherence to project goals.
– Handling budgeting and cost control for electrical design aspects of the projects.
– Supporting the sales team with cost estimation and technical input during bid preparation.
– Assisting the project team and project management in delivering on project timelines and goals.
– Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and guiding external consultants to ensure electrical designs integrate smoothly with other disciplines.
– Providing support in customer care, including product improvements, ongoing development, and overseeing R&D development projects.
We hope you have:
– Suitable educational background
– Solid knowledge and experience in electrical design in the marine industry.
– Knowledge of yacht building, with at least a strong personal interest in sailing or sailing yachts.
– Proficiency in design tools Nautor Swan uses Siemens NX.
– Familiarity with hybrid propulsion systems, especially diesel-electric propulsion (considered an advantage).
– Proven ability to lead a team or manage projects, with prior experience in team leadership or project management being valued.
– Proficient English language skills. Swedish/Finnish language skills are considered beneficial.
– Electrical qualification 2 (S2)is considered as an asset.

Practicalities:
This is a full-time and permanent position. You will be employed directly by Oy Nautor Ab. The role is based in Pietarsaari, with the team primarily working on-site at the yacht production facility to facilitate seamless cross-functional collaboration. With Nautors hybrid model, you can work remotely 1-2 days a week. The starting date is negotiable; ideally, you could start working for Nautor in August 2025.
