If you responded YES three times, this position might be for you!
We are now looking for a Group Compliance Officer to join Veho, a family-owned retailer and distributor of Mercedes-Benz and smart passenger cars and Daimler commercial vehicles.
“This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and finds developing and reorganizing of the compliance function intriguing and inspiring.”
Michaela Skrabb, General Counsel @ Veho
Veho is an automotive retailer and distributor in Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and a retailer in Sweden, focusing on passenger cars and commercial vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz and Daimler. Veho offers a customer experience that meets the needs and expectations in the luxury segment of the car market and among quality-conscious commercial vehicle customers. The company was established in 1939, and it has been in family ownership ever since.
As a Group Compliance Officer, you will join Veho’s Legal team that currently consists of the General Counsel and two team members, one in Finland and one in Latvia. You will work closely with the management teams of Veho’s two business units – passenger cars and commercial vehicles – as well as other group functions. In practice, you will support the group on various ethics and compliance (“E&C”) topics, such as competition law, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and trade sanctions in Finland, Sweden and the Baltics.
Veho’s inhouse legal department has been set up two years ago, and the group’s General Counsel has done some serious heavy lifting in developing legal processes and structures. Now, it is time to take Veho’s compliance program to the next level! Veho’s legal team is currently updating the group’s Code of Conduct, and the updated policy will act as your road map in your development work.
In your day-to-day, you will create an annual compliance clock and develop and implement various compliance processes, trainings and monitoring measures for the group. You will also support the Legal team in competition law related matters and advise your colleagues in other E&C areas such as in trade sanctions, KYC matters and anti-bribery. The role may require occasional pre-planned travel to Sweden and the Baltics.
We are looking for a lawyer with:
– A master’s degree in law and at least five years of relevant post-graduate experience preferably from an in-house legal department of a multinational company or a publicly listed company, or from a law firm or legal consultancy setting (please note, however, that five years is just a minimum, and we are more than happy to meet and discuss with more senior candidates as well!).
– A solid background in E&C, due to which you have at least seen and implemented high-quality compliance processes and plans. It is a big plus if you have prior experience in developing and creating E&C programs and processes!
– A proactive, meticulous, and can-do attitude – you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things going.
– A process-oriented mindset; you can come up with pragmatic compliance processes in an environment where there is no predefined map or handbook available.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills – fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required – Finnish, Swedish, Estonian, Lithuanian and/or Latvian skills are a plus but not a requirement.
Veho offers you:
– A key compliance position in a multinational group: As the Group Compliance Officer, you get to create and build Veho’s compliance function in Finland, Sweden and the Baltics. Your signature will thus be all over the new compliance map and you will play an integral role in the way how Veho’s E&C matters are handled.
– A culture of a family-owned company: Veho has earned a Great Place To Work certificate in Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Lithuania. What you can expect in practice is a warm culture where people treat each other with respect and are extremely committed to contributing to Veho’s success with long-standing careers.
– A flexible hybrid work: At Veho you may utilize a balanced hybrid work model. Veho’s HQ is located at Vantaa and the Legal team usually works approximately three days per week on site and rest of the week remotely.
– A market-level compensation package: Veho offers you a market-level monthly salary together with an extensive benefit package. We are happy to discuss the compensation package in more detail with those proceeding to meeting rounds.
